When we met Tyler at the airport, Joel just couldn't contain himself. "Well...which do you want first, the good news or the bad news?" Without breaking stride, Ty responded, "Which vehicle is it this time?" Thus we began relaying the events that have occurred over the last two weeks. He was casually incredulous through all the layers of the story regarding the Louisville flood and Ashlea's Subaru, but when we got to the part about the Civic's oil change and the dented hood, he threw his head back and rolled his eyes in disbelief. We explained that the company intends to repair the damage, so he was happy. "Oh, and by the way, your car is in Louisville."
Poor Tyler.
The car shopping went amazingly well...experience must be paying off. We narrowed our search to two cars in one evening, and they were conveniently located at the same dealership - a 1998 Lexus and a 1999 Honda CRV, both in excellent condition. The Lexus presented a dilemma; it was a great car, but we couldn't figure out who would drive it. After all, I had already put my foot down that Ashlea wouldn't be driving an Audi. There was a principle to uphold. We couldn't see Tyler driving that car around campus, and Joel certainly wouldn't drive that car to work. He's already sticking his neck out by driving the only non-American branded car at the sugar plant (this is Michigan remember). And I am very content driving the Maxima. So we bought the CRV. There were three contenders wanting to become its designated driver, but this is how it ended up: Joel is driving the CRV (dads rule); Tyler drove the Odyssey to Louisville for Ashlea to use, and he was reunited with his Civic. We're still chuckling about Ashlea driving a mini-van...she's calling herself a soccer nun. ;)
