May Flowers

May is the loveliest month in our yard.  It's always refreshing to see so much color and smell so much fragrance after a long Michigan winter.  This spring was difficult for some of the plants though.  We had freezing nighttime temperatures just as the wisteria and lilacs were beginning to blossom.  I'm hoping the wisteria will produce a second "crop" later on as it sometimes does.   Joel took the pictures below of what is currently blooming in our back yard.

The tree peony is unusually loaded with blooms this year!

Lily of the Valley - can a fragrance be any sweeter?

I think this tree is some type of crabapple.  Its blossoms begin white in color and gradually turn to a deep salmon color.

One of our clematis vines.
