My first Christmas surprise came last night around 8:00 p.m. when some Christmas packages were delivered by a UPS employee...a very special UPS employee. Yes, Ashlea arrived, completely unexpectedly, bearing gifts. But the best gift was having her home for Christmas. Joel and I (Tyler was a co-conspirator) were led to believe that she wouldn't be able to come until next week, and normally that would have been the case. I still say their machinations bordered on outright deception, but I forgive them. Ashlea will be here until Sunday, so we'll be packing in as much as we can in the next few days (no pun intended).
I'm still overwhelmed by my other surprise (which I'm not using at the moment). Joel bought me a...drum roll...Macbook Pro. Having just turned fifty, I'm wondering if it's too late to teach an old dog new tech. Tyler is handling the fact that my Mac is superior to his fairly well (we'll see how he is after the Christmas cheer wears off). Ashlea feels left out in the cold, as she's still using her ancient HP. Tyler didn't waste any time getting me started on some of the intricacies of Mac. One of the first things we did was skype...yes, talk and see each other through our laptops while sitting at the same table. Never in my wildest dreams as a child did I envision that I would live in age of the Jetsons! Now...if I could only have one of those flying vehicles that folds up into a briefcase! ;)
Macs are sweet. Let me know if you ever have any questions.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just noticed you're reading "Longitude". There's a really good movie version of this out there which I highly recommend.
Thanks for the tip on the movie, Ben. We'll have to check into that after we read the book.
