Savannah Scenes

Savannah also has some beautiful homes and buildings, but the city does not have the same ambiance as Charleston. We loved the public squares situated throughout the original part of the city though. Most squares had a monument dedicated to some prominent figure in history. And in case you're wondering, the statue pictured is not Captain Jack Sparrow ...it's James Olgethorpe. ;) The only house we toured was the home General Sherman used as his headquarters during the Union occupation of Savannah toward the end of the war (not pictured). The picture of the Georgian style house belonged to Isaiah Davenport, a architect and builder in the early days...maybe a relative?

  1. Those buildings are beautuful! I'm glad you added the note that the statue is not Capt. Jack or I would have been disillusioned.
