Sharing Tree

Yesterday, Joel and I had the pleasure of participating in Midland's Sharing Tree distribution day, and we were quite impressed with the whole operation. I don't know how many locations had the Sharing Trees, but I do know that 14,000 tags went out into the community with desired items from 66 local agencies and non-profit organizations. As the gifts were delivered to distribution location, we checked in the items for the Pregnancy Resource Center only, and we're estimating they received over 300 gift bags, or about 60% of their desired 500 gifts. This was a small percentage of the bags delivered, but many gifts were over and above what was actually listed on the tag. After we checked in the items, they were transported to another location to be sorted for storage or immediate use. It was great to be part of this community effort, and to see the operation in action. We hope we can do it again next year!
