Annual Rescue Mission Auxiliary Picnic

It was probably the hottest day of the summer here in Mid-Michigan, but we held our picnic anyway. Chef Jim (of Community Village) served up some wonderful gazpacho soup, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, grilled chicken and steak salads with mandarin chardonnay and balsamic bourbon dressings, and grilled garlic toast. His chocolate chess pie was so rich that I couldn't quite finish it. But I was eating it after I had already eaten a lemon square with praline ice cream, so that might have had some bearing on the situation. I'm bad. (Note to Marilyn: Jim is doing the church secretaries' luncheon this year - yea!) After lunch, the mission's men's ensemble sang a variety of hymns, and a few gave testimonies of how the Lord is working in their lives.
