Random Discoveries

Brenda shared a new low in grammar with me this morning by reading a Christmas note from a donor. We cringe when we hear people say "yous" as if "you" needs to be made more plural. ??? That usage is especially pervasive with waitresses in Michigan. More ??? But now we know that you can make "you" even more plural by adding -es to the end of "yous." But it's wasn't "youses" in the note...it was "we wish uses a merry Christmas." Aaargh!

At lunch we discovered that three out of the seven women at our table don't believe in eternal security. I don't even remember how the topic was raised (it wasn't I), but the four of us were able to biblically support our belief that true believers' salvation is secure in Christ; He is our righteousness. The other three quickly decided it was time to get back to work. It's frustrating to be reminded that there is so much bad theology taught in churches, and you have to wonder how anyone could enjoy their Christianity if they were always fearful that they might not be 'fessed up when they die. Sad.

We also learned at lunch that biting your nails is a sin...hmmmm...what about cracking our knuckles?
