Well, we didn't get them made for Thanksgiving Day, but Ashlea and I still had our pumpkin pie bake-off on Saturday. Her pie (on the left) was made with sweetened condensed milk and spices including chili powder, and my pie (on the right) was made with whipping cream, dark brown sugar, and spices - no chili powder. (Maybe I should mention that our Thanksgiving guests brought a pumpkin pie, and I also made a pecan pie, so we had plenty of pie this weekend.)
Ashlea requested a detailed analysis of each pie. Tyler is quickly learning the art of diplomacy; he decided he liked the creaminess of Ashlea's pie and the flavor of mine. His main concern, though, was that we had enough Cool Whip for both pies. :) Ashlea's crust was homemade and much better; I got lazy and used a Pillsbury crust. There really is a difference.
On Friday, Ashlea and I spent several hours shopping for supplies and decorations for her Christmas party (oh, and we did a little shopping for ourselves as well). We ended up making the invitations, and Ashlea did the handwriting while watching Harry Potter movies with Tyler.
We took these pictures before church this morning.
