It's A Wonderful Life

Here I am sitting in Ashlea's lovely apartment, writing on my blog, while she is in the kitchen preparing shrimp she brought back from the gulf coast. She's also making grilled asparagus. Yum! Anyway, I want to share my experience of going to her salon this morning to get a haircut. I don't think there is any place like this in Bay City. My stylist, Shawn, escorted me to his chair which was placed in front of a full-length mirror. Once I sat down, I almost verbally gasped at the hip spread reflected in the mirror, and I was thinking to myself, "Get the cape quick!" But no, I had to sit there and try to ignore the image while he asked me questions about my expectations for my visit today. All I could come up with was to get a quality haircut. What else could I say...look ten years younger? Shawn was very thorough in explaining what he envisioned for my face and head shape and how he would accomplish said vision. Then I had to reiterate the details as a sign of agreement. The next step was to go to the shampoo room to get the "treatment." First, he gave me a hand massage with warm lotion. Shawn then asked me to close my eyes and smell three different oils that he placed under my nose. I had to choose one, and quite honestly, after smelling the first, I couldn't smell the other two. I chose the third one, but don't asked me why. That happened to be the energizing oil that he used for my scalp massage. It was wonderful! The last step was the shampoo. I really think that is the best part about going to a salon...it's so relaxing. We went back his styling chair, and Shawn produced a cape - thank you very much. That made the haircut much more enjoyable. The last step was to touch up my lips, so he chose a lip color that would make my lips look "spicy" and applied it for me. That was a little strange, but I still had my cape on, so I was cool. Well, the story ends just as dinner is ready. Great timing. ; )

Dinner was delicious; Ashlea is proving to be a great cook, and I recant.
