Due Date

I gave up...again. Today was the library due date for The Fellowship of the Ring CD set that I had been slowing working my way through. In three weeks, I had only completed 6 of the 16 CDs; The idea was to listen to them to and from work, but even then I found myself forcing my attention rather than actually enjoying the story. This is not to say that I don't acknowledge Tolkien's giftedness in writing; apparently I just cannot appreciate the complexity of his story line and characters. Maybe another time, I'll pick up the book again; but for now, I'm beginning The Brothers Karamazov (for the second time). I purchased this book, knowing it will take me quite awhile to complete, but I'm determined to do it this time.
