PRIVILEGED

I am privileged to be part of a ladies' Bible study that is somewhat of an anomaly in my experience; we actually study the Bible! We are working our way through the book of Hebrews, chapter by chapter, and enjoying wonderful discussion about the doctrines contained within this wonderful book. I guess the refreshing part for me is that we're not interested in "women's issues" that comprise most ladies' Bible studies, in content or application. We just want to grow in our understanding of God's Word, so we can better serve and enjoy Him. I believe it is vitally important for Christian women (as well as men) to study Bible doctrines and Reformed theology (the systematic study of the attributes, purposes, and works of God, and the history of man in relation to Him). We don't have to become scholars, but we should at least be able to communicate the gospel in it's entirety: man's total depravity, God's righteous judgment and wrath toward sin, man's inability to save himself, Jesus (being God) as the only Savior, and Jesus' finished work on the cross alone as the basis of our faith. Yes, it's much more involved than "just ask Jesus into your heart." The more we grow in our understanding and obedience to God, we are able to fulfill the chief end of man: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
