What a great Mother's Day! It actually began last night when Ashlea called, wanting me to open her gift early. She sent me a gift box from Great Harvest Bread Company - two specialty loaves of bread, 6 gigantic cookies, and some blueberry jam. Seems the box was delivered mid-week without my knowledge. (How did that happen?) Joel used the cinnamon chocolate chip bread this morning to make the best French toast. Yum! Tyler, bless his heart, ventured into Christopher & Banks to get me a gift card, so he and I went shopping this afternoon. I tried to make it as painless for him as possible; we were able to pick out a beautiful skirt and blouse in just about record time.
We attended Calvary Baptist this morning because one of Tyler's friends received his diploma today (he is leaving for the army before graduation). Calvary recognized mothers for the usual categories: mom with the most children, mom with oldest son/daughter in attendance etc. I leaned over to a friend and said, "I wish they would really get creative with these awards...like the mom who's been dying her hair the longest." My friend chuckled and added, "Or the mom who's on the most anti-depressants."
The senior class is on their way this evening to Williamsburg, VA. for a couple days, then they will spend the rest of the week in Washington D.C. before returning on Saturday. It should be a great time for them.
