I love the summers in Michigan! And I love it when Joel takes a Friday off to spend with me, which now usually includes a round of golf. We enjoyed walking nine holes yesterday morning, a beautiful morning for golf! As we got started, I told Joel that I wanted him to record my score. . .usually I'd rather not know; it's that bad. Though I am definitely making progress with my long game, my short game still needs a lot of work.
Since I'll be playing with our son Tyler for the first time next month, who happens to be getting pretty adept at golf, I like to compare game notes, so I sent him this text message:
"I had a 57 on nine this morning. Three 8s killed me, but I did have 3 bogeys. Dad had a 51 - has yet to break 50."
For some reason I thought I'd get some words of encouragement in response. Instead, he replied with:
"So what you're saying is there won't be competition for me."
Sometimes, he's such a brat. ;)
