Golf Getaway

Normally, I'm still a mediocre putter...slightly off on judging direction, mostly unskilled in reading the green, and I don't often have the right touch.  But at the golf challenge last month, I somehow put it all together and won the putting contest with a fifteen foot putt against one other finalist (testifying to the fact that we were mostly casual golfers).  No one was more surprised than I was, and one of my teammates shouted out, "We could have used one of those on the course!" My prize was a $200 gift card to one of the Boyne resorts in northern Michigan, so Joel and I loaded up our golf clubs and went to beautiful Boyne Highlands on Saturday.  The lady at the reservation desk assigned us a round of golf on the Ross Memorial Course, in honor of golf course architect Donald Ross.  Each hole is a replica of a hole on one of his golf courses.  Little did we know that this course has 110 sand traps, mostly nicely situated around the greens...just to keep us humble.
