Weekly Grammar: There Is Versus There Are

This grammar violation seems to sneak up on us - the misuse of the contraction there's. Think how often you hear people say something like, "There's five seniors on the team." You would never say, "There is five seniors on the team," would you? (Please say no.) Instead of inadvertently using the contraction there's in this context, consider the correct linking verb, and say, "There are five seniors on the team." You'll be a better person for it. ;)
