Ashlea isn't the only family member that dubs possessions with names from Middle Earth. My brother Patrick sent us his newest recording, "Walking in Falling Snow," with the following note:
"All tracks were recorded at Angband* Studio on Friday, 12.4.09. Mixing and mastering was completed on Saturday, 12.5.09. What sounds like strings is simply my strat plugged into a little magic box. It was an absolute blast to compose, play, and record this piece. I hope you enjoy it.
*Angband is what I call my studio. It's an allusion to the deepest, darkest dungeon in Tolkien's Middle Earth, a dungeon fraught with '[black dragons], and countless swords, and strong bars, and unassailable walls, and the dark majesty of Morgoth.' Admittedly, my studio's name is a tad pretentious. It's a bit of a challenge to convey 'dark majesty' with an amplifier, a lava lamp, and a few electronic gizmos. It is, however, my studio, and I'll call it what I want."
