Thoughts

The story of George Tiller's murder yesterday is all over the news, and since I'm a native Kansan, long aware of Dr. Tiller's practice, maybe the story "hits a little closer to home." Several thoughts have been running through my mind about his murder. We must remember that Dr. Tiller was created in the image of God, as were all the babies he aborted; every human life is precious. Even though it was wrong for Dr. Tiller to murder the who-knows-how-many thousands of babies over the years, no one person had the right to execute judgment against him. "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord." We should not promote the sanctity of life by taking a human life. What kind of church has a member in good-standing that is a known abortionist? Even the name of the church troubles me...Reformation Lutheran Church. I'm surmising that the church has long ago jettisoned the biblical tenets of the Reformation. Is there no longer any shame attached to the profession of abortion? Was he handing out business cards while he was ushering? The term "quality health care" should not be used to describe his business. Quality health care is committed to sustain life, not destroy it.

  1. What a messed up situation:

    * A doctor who murders unborn children because it is legal and lucrative.
    * Lawmakers who defend said practice and see nothing wrong with it.
    * Church that welcomes him with open arms.
    * A vigilante who takes justice into his own hands to rectify the situation.

Not long ago I read that at one time Dr. Tiller was a member of a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church before he was excommunicated. I'm glad to know that at least one ecclesiastical body called him to account and warned him that his soul was in eternal peril. Its too bad that he didn't heed their admonition.

  2. Well said, Jeanette. It's being reported Tiller murdered over 60,000 babies. If this is true, that number is staggering.

  3. What's also staggering is that it was reported that he performed 250 partial birth abortions a year. That's almost one per every single business day. And to think that he could kill full-term babies day after day, without remorse is beyond belief.

  4. There is one report that states he actually baptized some of those babies before he put them in the incinerator. IF this is true,(and I pray to God it isn't) he clearly didn't view those babies as just "waste material" to be disposed of.

  5. I watched a recent video clip on the Fox web site of O'Reilly interviewing a former patient of Tiller. She had an abortion as a young teen when she was over 20 weeks pregnant. The girl really didn't know what she was facing, and she deeply regrets the choice she and her parents made. Her last memory was that of her dead baby in a toilet (where she gave birth). How would you like to live with that memory? I pray she will come to know the sufficiency of God's grace through Christ.
