Recuperating

Well, I survived my first week at home, post-surgery, just fine and, more importantly, Joel survived his week of being my caregiver. Until Thursday, though, I felt like a house cat counting his days of captivity, but realistically, I didn't have any inclination to plot a way of escape. It's amazing what a little time, lots of rest, and the sunshine will do to beckon one back to the land of the living; in other words, I now feel well enough to resume doing my hair and make-up. Yesterday, Joel and I decided to take advantage of the nearly warm day to do some yard work. Translation...Joel cleaned up the flower beds in front of the house while I played "sidewalk superintendent." He was even kind enough to get out a chaise, so I could issue directives in comfort. "We" also did a few other spring cleaning projects this week, but don't worry, Mom, "we" didn't overdo. When I was napping, Joel used the down-time to read The Bourne Supremacy. Judging by the rapidity with which he was turning the pages, I think that book is going to be up next on my reading list. Does it matter that I haven't read the first book in the series?

I am overwhelmed by the expressions of care this week, and I am very appreciative for each one! Though I have to say that, after receiving a number of calls and notes from friends and relatives, I realize that I have become an unwitting member of a sisterhood. We don't recruit new members, but we sure love to tell the stories of our "induction!" ;)
