Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
Though we Christians have been justified through our faith in the finished work of Christ, and forgiven of our sins, we continue to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal our indwelling sin and lead us to repentance. How gracious the Lord is to us that he does not reveal the egregiousness of all our sins to us at once...we couldn't bear it! How gracious the Lord is to us that the Holy Spirit is ever present and faithful in transforming us to the image of Christ. And how gracious the Lord is to us in promising that when we stand before him, "we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is"...finally rid of our sinful flesh and completely glorified in Christ!
