The one advantage of Joel having Mondays off during the sugar processing season is that he has dinner ready when I get home. This has been a work in progress though, because for the first oh, maybe twenty-seven years of marriage, he had me convinced that the only things he could cook were waffles and steaks on the grill (which he does masterfully). Okay, I'm exaggerating, but that's not too far from the truth. In recent years, he's graduated to making a few simple dishes that I have planned. But last night, he surprised me with a wonderful meal that required his own planning, shopping, and preparation, and it was delicious! He even tried new recipes. We had chicken breasts covered with Swiss cheese and portabella mushrooms, shrimp that had been marinated in Pickapeppa Sauce, citrus-flavored vegetables, and apple slices drizzled with caramel. So now that he's blown his cover, I think I'll let him do his own thing in the kitchen more often. He might actually develop a love of cooking! :)
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Ephesians 2:4-5

Impressed!

WOW...I'm making sure Mike looks at this entree entry! It sounds absolutely wonderful. And the pre-sentation. A 10 for sure. He's not only a chef....he's an artist...with heart.

Makes me hungry just looking at it. I'm impressed, I guess there is hope for me after all.

ReplyDeleteJoel appreciates the encouragement, but Roxie, you might just cause his head to get too large for his chef hat. ;) And Ty, as I've said before, the trick is reading the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI just love it when men blow their cover. Looks and sounds "delish".
