The Bond

You'd probably never guess by looking at Ty that he's prone to become sentimental at times...not sappy, just a little sentimental. And sometimes those feelings will flow out of him in the form of poetry. As we were leaving Camp Barakel last Sunday, Ty handed Ashlea a folded piece of notebook paper, and instructed her not to read it until we were in the van. It's still untitled, but here is his poem to her:

A bond like no other
unconditional love
blessed to have a sister
a gift from above
memories countless
a true best friend
sharing laughter
bringing tears to an end
blessed to have a sister
sharing hope and faith
challenging one another
evidence of grace
I pray for my sister
Father, shine upon her face
help her in her ministry
content her in her place
I thank God for my sister
example in the faith
Let her know her brother
loves her in every way.

It makes me a little sentimental too!

  1. Okay, now I'm crying. What a wonderful poem and a more wonderful feeling behind it.

  2. I'm crying too. That's the sweetest thing! Maybe I should write some for my sibs...
