Joel and I are wired differently in many ways, but last night I was reminded of our differing approaches to travel...especially to an unfamiliar destination. I'm more of the the "point me in the right direction, and I'll eventually find it" type of person. Joel, on the other hand, has made Mapquest and Google Earth two of his favorite websites. He could probably give you pretty detailed directions off the top of his head from here to Albuquerque, highway numbers and river crossings included. So last night, as I was looking over the information for my web design class, Joel said he was concerned about me getting lost on the Delta College campus. I suppose, after last year's parking snafu, he might feel justified in his concern. He immediately pulled up the Delta College website campus map to find the building in which my class will be held. Delta College is one huge connected building complex with parking on the east side and parking on the west side, and one road that circles the complex...it's not complicated. Joel pointed out my building, then he asked me if I wanted him to print the campus map. I emphatically declined, citing as reasons my keen photographic map memory and ink conservation. I do appreciate Joel's concern over my well-being, but I figure, hey, if I get lost, I can always stop and ask directions...exactly! ;)
