A Trip to the Farm

Our friends, Julian and Dorothy, invited David, Marilyn, Joel and me out to their farm for dinner Saturday evening. As soon as we opened the car doors, we were met with the savory aroma of stew cooking in a dutch oven in their garage. Julian used charcoal briquettes as the heat source above and below the dutch oven. It was delicious! I also liked Dorothy's special ingredient in the tossed salad...fresh cilantro. After dinner, we enjoyed good conversation and got to see a herd of about 40 deer across the wheat field. It was a wonderful way to spend the first warm Saturday of the spring. (The silos are located on a relative's farm directly behind their farm.)
