It's Christmas!

We're so thankful to be together as a family, especially since we can't be with our extended families during the holidays. Ashlea surprised us yesterday by arriving about an hour before we expected her. She maintained vague answers to our inquiries about her driving location throughout the day, and we were clueless when the doorbell rang around 2:00 p.m. I know this week with her will fly by way too quickly...so many things to do! As usual, we had our family Christmas on Christmas eve, because Joel has to work on Christmas day...no rest for the sugar beet processing. Joel continued his quest to have me high-tech by buying me a blue-tooth head set to go with my Venus cell phone, for calls and listening to music. I told him I didn't want one of those things that clips around one ear, so he got me the set that wraps around both ears (via the back of my head). Of course this means another users' manual to be read. :( He also bought me a lovely necklace and some cologne...good husband. I am blessed beyond what I deserve, that's for sure.

We all received many nice gifts, but Tyler had a brief moment of panic when we he and Ashlea were opening identical gift bags containing money envelopes, and Ashlea pulled her envelope out first and read, "For our shopping trip." Panic-stricken Ty thought she meant, "Four hour shopping trip"...his worst nightmare. : ) Ashlea even brought gifts for her kittikins, and we had some major laughter at their expense, as you might imagine from the pictures. The most unusual gift we received was a collection of gourmet pastas, including a dark chocolate linguine and a fruit blend pasta. A dessert pasta...who would have thought. I've already been to the company's website to check out the recipes, and they look scrumptious! More later...
