German Chocolate Upside-Down Cake

The caption in my recipe book for this cake is: "Easy and delicious - indulge and bulge!" But don't let that keep you from trying it. And it's especially good with some ice cream and chocolate sauce on the side. ;)

1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 package German chocolate cake mix
1 stick butter
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 16 oz. pkg. confectioners' sugar

Combine coconut and pecans; spread evenly on bottom of a greased 9x13x2 inch pan. Mix cake mix according to directions on package; pour over coconut-pecan mixture. Put butter and cream cheese into a large saucepan; heat until mixture is warm enough to stir in confectioners' sugar. Spoon mixture over top of cake batter. (As cake bakes, the cream cheese mixture will settle to the bottom with coconut and pecans, making a delicious "frosting." Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes, or until done. Serve from pan, and do no cut until cake is cooled.
