Last October Joel, Tyler, and I went to Johnsons' Pumpkin Farm for the express purpose of seeing their newly constructed trebuchet in action. (Well, I guess I must admit the apple cider donuts are also a draw.) At that time, I tried to upload our video but was not successful. We happened to show the video to some friends on Sunday, and I wondered if I would have success now...now that I've done a few. So here it is...the machine is over 40 feet tall with a counterweight of 10,000 lbs. This launch is of a 78 lb. pumpkin that traveled 600 feet - the length of two football fields. If you listen closely, you will hear the thud as the pumpkin hits the ground.
