Mission Exposure

Joel and I can now say we've been to a Great Lakes Loons' game at the new (and very impressive) Dow Diamond stadium. At each home game, the Loons feature one non-profit organization, and tonight we were there representing the Saginaw Rescue Mission. Since we were manning a display table, we really couldn't get into the game, but we didn't mind. One baseball game every five or ten years suits us just fine. Our entertainment for the night was watching The Blues Brothers perform between innings, singing, dancing, and launching hot dogs into the stands with a bungee cord (they were foil-wrapped in case you're making mental images). I had several conversations with people about the mission, including an obviously intoxicated gentleman wearing a Department of Homeland Security shirt...my personal safety index just took a nose dive. All in all, we had a very enjoyable evening, but the atmosphere sure made us miss our Kansas State football game days. Ah yes, college football...it won't be long now.
