My boss is going to have a good laugh at this one. Because of Ashlea's and Joel's numerous auto accidents over the last few years (mostly not their fault I might add), Kim has been saying she wants to get me a bumper sticker that says, "I'm an accident waiting to happen." Well, today it did. I was stopped at a red light behind an Avalanche when another car rear-ended me at a pretty good speed, pushing me into the Avalanche. As I grabbed my phone to call 911, I noticed the car that hit me driving off through the 7 Eleven parking lot. I did get the license tag number; unfortunately that tag was listed as "retired." The officer went to the home address for that number, and the owner said she threw that tag away last year. So at it now stands, the officer really doesn't have any leads, other than the make, model, and color of the car. None of us got a good look at the driver either. Both bumpers have to be replaced, but the van is drivable, so we're thankful for that. I would appreciate prayer that, Lord willing, the driver at fault will be found. And if he isn't, that we can be at peace with that situation.
On another note...Joel and I have vivid memories of the Sao Paulo airport where the plane crash occurred yesterday. As we were approaching for a landing there back in 1982, our pilot had to pull up quickly and bank the plane sharply to avoid hitting a plane that was also approaching for a landing underneath our plane. Once we were on the ground, we had to exit the plane at the rear, and the combination of the motion and the exhaust fumes caused me to get sick right on the tarmac. Yeah...some things are hard to forget even after 25 years.
