Volunteer Awards Banquet

We held the City Rescue Mission's annual volunteer banquet at the Castle Museum last night with slightly over 100 in attendance. As the volunteer director, this is the best night of the year. We are blessed to have so many truly wonderful people who care about the homeless. I love presenting the various awards to them in recognition of their service. After dinner, a theatre organist led us in a sing-along of old standards (Mom, you would have loved it), then played the organ to enhance a Buster Keaton silent movie. It was so much fun!

Arnie was voted our "Volunteer of the Year," and he was so humble about receiving the recognition. He said he always wants the Lord to be pleased with what he does.

The ladies standing have all reached over 2000 hours (actually close to 3000 hours) of volunteer service, and they do the worst job of all in my opinion...sorting through all our donations.
