Screens, Spring, & Sweets

Our weekend with Ashlea had a dual purpose...celebrate Ty's birthday together and make screens for three of Ashlea's windows. For those of you who don't know, she lives in a second story apartment in a historic neighborhood, and the house has no screens. So to keep flying creatures from entering and her four-footed creatures from taking the plunge (one has already done that), it was decided that screens would be most advantageous. After Ashlea and I weighed in on the construction plans, we left Joel and Ty to finish the project while we strolled the lovely courts. Spring has already arrived in Louisville, so we were treated to the beauty of forsythia, tulips and daffodils, flowering red buds, weeping willows and dogwoods. The completion of the screens called for a little celebration at the Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Store...yes, they did have banana ice cream, but I chose lemon this time (my second favorite). We had a party for Ty with some of Ashlea's friends on Saturday evening at a local restaurant; it's great to get to know more people in her church.
