What's Up With Us

Tyler packed his bags and left home Wednesday morning, and we haven't seen him since. No, he didn't run away from home (he's a little old for that anyway); he's house sitting in Midland for a week. You'd think that the stretch of highway between Bay City and Midland is the "great gulf fixed" though, because I can't even lure him home this weekend with the offer of a home-cooked meal. He did call on Thursday to let me know things are going well with the 2 dogs and 6 cats in his charge. The only problem he had encountered at that time was a snoring cat by his head during the night. Tyler has very little tolerance for snoring, so that cat got a quick boot. I sure hope his future wife doesn't snore!

Joel and I enjoyed a nice evening with David and Marilyn last night. We were among the seemingly sold-out crowd at the first night's showing of "Amazing Grace" - a movie about William Wilberforce and his fight to abolish the slave trade in England. Very well done. And since we had to go to Midland to see the movie, it was convenient for us to make a trip to the Coldstone Creamery afterwards. Banana ice cream...yum!...but not quite as good as Mama Lupo's.

We're beginning to think about travel plans for the upcoming months. Ashlea is going to meet us in Grand Rapids in April for a Bible conference, so we're looking forward to that weekend. We're also in the initial planning stage of a trip to the Carolinas/Georgia in July with Ashlea, which will include the wedding of Ashlea's friends in Greenville, S.C. It might just be the three of us though if Ty is working at Camp Barakel. And we'll be making a trip to Kansas sometime before September. After the long winters in Michigan, we're ready for a change of scenery.
