The Psychology of Dipped Pretzels

We received a gift box of dipped pretzels from one of our vendors, and Marcia was adamant that the brown ones just were not as good as the white ones. In fact, she refused to eat any of the brown ones. Ken insisted they have the very same flavor and challenged Marcia to a blindfolded taste test. He held the blindfold while Kimberly administered the test. Marcia tasted one, then the other, and pronounced that the pretzels she had just tasted were both white ones! Much to her dismay, once the blindfold was removed, she had to face the fact that she had indeed tasted one of each. We decided there must be something psychological about the white pretzels, because even though the flavor really is the same (neither is real chocolate by the way), the white ones are always the first to go. Anyway, it was a fun Friday afternoon diversion.
