Short But Sweet

That best describes our time with Ashlea in Louisville over the weekend. We arrived at her apartment around 9:00 p.m. Friday night, bearing birthday presents which she was eagerly awaiting. No real surprises...we got her a TV with a built in DVD player. Tyler gave her a music CD and the 10th anniversary edition of the A & E Pride and Prejudice. Now she'll be able to enjoy hours of her favorite British romances as well as her action flicks.

On Saturday night, we went to see the new film "Prestige" - a movie set in the 1890s about two rival magicians. None of us really knew what to expect, and the story line, full of twists and turns, was very intriguing. We all left the theatre with our minds almost reeling with solutions to the puzzling parts. I consider this a must-see-again movie in order to completely comprehend the "magic" of the story.

We always enjoy visiting Immanuel Baptist with Ashlea. It's just so evident that the congregation is committed to serving the Lord to the praise of His glory. After the service though, Ashlea asked Tyler to show his tattoo to one of her friends (who also happens to be a Lord of the Rings fan), and as Tyler lifted his sleeve, a small crowd gathered to see Romans 12:1 in Elfin. The approving expressions and comments were funny. I think the best one was, "If it's good enough for Glorfindel, it's good enough for Jesus." This isn't your typical Baptist church.

After church, we ate at a Cuban restaurant named Havana Rumba, and the food was excellent. Joel and thought it was very similar to food we had in Brazil years ago...rice and beans, fried bananas, unusual vegetables. It was a very pleasant way to end our family time. I've posted some pictures below of Ashlea's apartment and neighborhood.
