It's Reformation Day

While most people associate October 31st with Halloween, I prefer to remember this day as the anniversary of Martin Luther's posting of his 95 theses on the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany in 1517. The subject of the theses was the unbiblical use of indulgences by the Catholic Church. Luther's divinely-revealed understanding of our justification by faith in Christ alone set forth the Protestant Reformation in Western Europe... and the rest is history.

"What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.' Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness
." Romans 4:1-5

So, Happy Reformation Day!
