Today, Ashlea is on her way to Salina from the St. Louis area, having spent some time with her PHC roommate, Sarah Pride. They enjoyed good conversation over dinner, went to Sarah's ultimate frisbee league game, then spent the remainder of the evening with the family. Having never previously met, Ashlea was always referred to as Sarah's "Gollum roommate" by the younger brothers and sisters. (Hmmm...I forgot to ask Ashlea if she had to do her impersonation.) Ashlea caught me off guard in the middle of our conversation with "I love you, Mom." I asked why, and she repeated the sentiment. After a couple moments of thought on my part and a hint from Ashlea, it all clicked, and we laughed. It's nice to be appreciated as a mother!
