But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Ephesians 2:4-5

Prayer & Fasting
The serious financial state of the Saginaw Rescue Mission prompted the staff to hold a day of prayer and fasting today. Since I had made plans to have lunch with Marilyn, I decided I would give up all sweets and desserts instead of all food. For someone who is accustomed to starting the day with a cookie or candy and continuing sugar consumption throughout the day, I am feeling pretty deprived. Several times I was tempted to get into "the drawer." And usually when Marilyn and I go to Wally's Sandwich Shop, we make sure that we leave room for a piece of pie, but not today. I guess I can live without sweets...for awhile. Tomorrow I'm baking a zucchini chocolate cake to take to work in celebration of our day of prayer and fasting...it was my boss' idea.
