We just got home from watching the famous Bay City fireworks down by the Saginaw River, and it was as spectacular as ever. We happened to choose a location next to a group of people that included an overly-excited screamer, and that got to be quite humorous...but not as humorous as Cory was as we were walking back to our vehicles after the show. He was yelling out phrases such as "I'm high on America!" "Down with the British!" "We won!" and "The Minutemen prevailed!" This is Ty's best friend? Hmmm.
It was a perfect evening for a barbecue (Joel grilled some very tasty steaks and brats), swimming, and a few games of badminton at home. The guys also played a little soccer down by the river before the fireworks. Joel, Jennifer, and I just enjoyed the relaxation.
A church family hosted a picnic at their home on Sanford Lake yesterday afternoon/evening, which was also a very nice time of fellowship. They added special touches to help get us in the spirit of Independence Day; however, I highly doubt anyone felt compelled to yell "I'm high on America!"
