RESURRECTION SUNDAY

The Apostle Paul speaking to the philosophers in Athens on Areopagus (Mars Hill): "Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, somethng shaped by art and man's devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, 'We will hear you again on this matter.'" (Acts 17:29-31)

After celebrating Jesus's resurrection in worship this morning, we had dinner with a couple other families from our church, and participated in some of their family traditions. It's been years since we have had an Easter egg hunt, and I don't know if we ever held one outside in Michigan because it was usually too cold on Easter Sunday. Today was an exception, so the adults got the pleasure of hiding the eggs outdoors in trees, bushes, flower pots, hub caps, etc. It was great fun. Since the kids ended with varying numbers of eggs in their baskets, I suggested that we conduct a lesson in socialism, but they didn't go for that idea.

We also learned a game called choke-choke that might be Romanian in origin; Dave wasn't sure. Anyway, it's an egg cracking competition where one person holds their egg pointed end up in their hand, and the other person taps that egg with the pointed end of his/her egg. The one holding the egg that didn't crack then challenges someone else until all the eggs are cracked but one, and that person is the winner. I should mention that you use hard-boiled eggs to play this game. : )
