CONTENTMENT

I just got home from work and am content with the accomplishments of the day. I attended my monthly DOVIA (Directors of Volunteer in Agencies) meeting first thing this morning in Midland. The topic was non-profit lobbying, which is not pertinent to my job, but it was interesting anyway. Once I got to the mission, I checked the volunteer status for the day, and then began finalizing details for my volunteer appreciation evening on Tuesday. That involved making phone calls to the chef and the musical group, reviewing the program order with the executive director (resulting in several changes), and deciding on the volunteer-of-the-year presentation. Six volunteers were nominated for the award; it is a pity we had to choose one, but the others will be recognized as well. I won't be able to pick up my awards until Monday, but everything else seems to be in order, so I can enjoy my day off tomorrow.

Tyler and the other senior guys are spending the night at Tim's house as part of their junior/senior banquet festivities. They thought they would all take a personal day and not attend classes tomorrow, but that isn't going to happen. A compromise was reached so that they will be in school part of the day. Anyway, we won't see Ty now until the banquet tomorrow night. I hope it is as nice as the one last year. The junior class is responsible for the arrangements, so you never know!

Check Ty's blog for his story about the senior guys' banquet plans. : )
