Rescue Greyhounds

Our friend Anne asked us to help her man the Regap (Retired Greyhounds as Pets) booth at a trade show this afternoon, and since that trade show happened to be the largest golf expo in the state of Michigan, that was a bonus!  Before we left this morning, Joel asked me, "So are we going to end up with a greyhound out of this deal?"  If it weren't for Phoebe and Beatrice, I'd say yes in a heartbeat.  Although many greyhounds are very good with cats,  I'm not sure I could put our girls through the trauma of another big dog. Phoebe probably needs therapy every time Ashlea brings Walsh home.  But if we ever do get another dog, we'll definitely consider adopting a retired greyhound.

The Regap organization is dedicated to educating the public about the plight of racing greyhounds (most are put down when done racing), their suitability as wonderful companions, as well as finding good adoptive homes for the dogs. They make wonderful pets, are gentle with children, and are often referred to as "40 mph couch potatoes," meaning they are most content on a big, soft pillow.
