Camp Barakel Ladies' Retreat
I think Camp Barakel has a few new fans after our weekend ladies' retreat. Seven women from our church ventured north on Friday evening for a wonderful time of fellowship and Bible study on verses from the book of Philippians. (I'll probably post on that later.) Pictured above: the pianist (I forgot her name), me, Lois (the speaker), Marla, Dorothy, Rhonda, Brenda, Sue, and Kathy (who served as a counselor there many years ago).
The view from the top of the new tower for the zip line that will travel 950 feet across Snow Valley. Opening next summer.
Finishing up our morning worship walk around Shear Lake. Lee read selected passages of scripture and poetry to help us focus on the Lord as our Creator.
My first time at riflery. We shot from a distance of 50 feet, and I scored a 39/50, actually hitting all five 1 1/2 inch targets on the sheet, and with one bullseye...or dead-eye dick as Dorothy says. Pretty fun stuff! Rhonda and Dorothy scored a couple points higher, so we're thinking this might be a good church ladies' activity. ;)
The ladies showing the hand signal of our secret society. ;) Supposedly, the gnats will hover at the highest point of your body...not sure about the validity of this. It's probably just a source of amusement for the Barakel staff.
Dorothy and I happened to color-coordinate one day.
It was obvious who in our group has obsessive compulsive tendencies! They didn't play chess; they just had to straighten up the board after others left it in disarray.
Yes, Rhonda, the duties of a pastor's wife are very diverse!
Sue shooting out the bottom of Thunder Express. She wants to start a petition drive to get the camp to install a return-to-the-top escalator as their next improvement project. ;)
Looks like you had a great time. Plus the weather was perfect!
ReplyDeleteNext week for Ladies retreat, our Brian's MIL will be speaking--Liz Givens. We are going camping in Standish.
Yay! I couldn't wait to see these pictures. Now I know what the Thunder express looks like. Very nice. So when's the youth retreat?:)
ReplyDeleteThey do have winter youth retreats...check their website. Maybe I could go along as a sponsor! :)
